Located around 19 miles southwest of Downtown Houston, Sugar Land is the largest city in Fort Bend County, Texas. The city’s name tells of its origins and history in sugarcane production — it truly was a sugar land. After settlers began farming and creating sugar plantations during the 1800s, sugar production quickly became the strength of the area and what made it boom.
